Here is little history about this day:
The day was first associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. By the 15th century, it had evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as “valentines“).
Valentine’s Day symbols that are used today include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid.
Any Cupid’s around?
Are you in love? Are you in relationship? Are you married? Are you single, divorced, separated,….?
I’ve noticed that more and more people, either when they come to certain age or get kids or if they are single for a long time, or what ever reason they come up with, they stop caring for tradition, stop caring for celebrations. They stop celebrating or paying attention to their birthdays and then transfer the same mood or opinion on to other holidays.
I don’t like that. I don’t like that people let life troubles and worries take over.
And I don’t think anyone should be like that. I don’t do that. I like to celebrate every holiday and I even make few of my own or our own.
You know what? Life is not easy to anyone and that is not a big news.
It’s simple, life is not suppose to be easy. That is a fact.
But, instead of putting us down and out of mood for celebrating, it should be more of the reason to take any chance we get to celebrate, to have fun, to enjoy what ever give us opportunity to, even for few hours, forget about problems and worries, and have the time of our lives.
So, this been said, get those valentines out and write down either:
Be my Valentine
To my Valentine
And don’t tell me you have no one to give it to! There is always someone. Someone you can think off, no matter if you are not in love with that person. The simple fact that you fancy her/him or that you find someone interesting or that you noticed someone is interested in you, can be the reason to send or give valentine – right?!! Would it be
such a big deal giving someone “valentine” even you have no relationship what so ever?! You don’t think it would make that person happy or even just for a moment feel special?! Yes it would. So do it! Think of someone.
You can’t do it?! It’s too embarrassing?! What would that person think about you?!
Ok! I understand. Still, make a valentine. Write any words you want and give it, in you mind, in your visualization, to your imaginary soul mate – I like to call him “my David”. Don’t imagine how he/she looks like, just how it makes you feel. Imagine giving the valentine to your David/Davida or what ever name you choose. What this does for me, it gives me hope and comfort that “my David” is out there and looking or waiting for me, the same way, with same enthusiasm and love that I have for him. It really melts all the past disappointments and hurts. Softens me – gives me back “myself”, my real self.
Hope it will do the same for you too.
For this Valentine’s day I wish you to spread the love anywhere you can and receive the love from whom ever you can. Love is all that is important in this life, the only constant in this life – everything else vanishes, all but love. That is one of the Absolute Truths that I’ll tell you about some other time.
Muahaaa and shine like the star that you are.
