In a sea of motivational speakers and authors, it is not so easy to pick one when you are newbie, just at the beginning of your spiritual journey, at the beginning of your conscious living. As one person told me long time ago, we shouldn’t worry which book we should read or which teacher we should follow or learn from, cause the books and teachers that come our way are the one we need. Even so, I like to recommend those that I like and learn from and those who help me make it through – either when times are rough or good.
Wayne Dyer is one of them. First time I heard him speaking at some YouTube video I liked him and it was no surprise to me to find out later that he is part of Hay House Publishing, publishing company created by Louis L Hay – woman that helped me change my life and still does.
You may not like him, he may not be what you need at the moment – that’s ok. On the other hand, he may be just what you need right now.
Anyway WAYNE W. DYER, PH.D., is an internationally renowned author and speaker in the field of self-development. He published 30 books, so far and has created many audio programs and videos, and has appeared on thousands of television and radio shows.
Fans call him “father of motivation” and in my opinion, he is indeed one of the best nowadays. His childhood was pretty bad or so to say, different, but whose isn’t!
I like to know few basic things about author I read or listen – it gives me clearer picture of his view point thus here are some basics about him that I took from Wikipedia.
“Dyer was born in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Melvin Lyle and Hazel Irene Dyer and spent much of his adolescence in an orphanage on the east side of Detroit. After graduation from Denby High School Dyer served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962. He received his D.Ed. degree in counseling from Wayne State University.
Dyer has been married three times. He has a daughter from his first wife, Judy and none with his second wife, Susan Casselman. He had five children with his third wife, Marcelene, who had two children from a prior marriage. Their marriage ended in 2003 after twenty years. “
When he’s not traveling the Wayne is writing from his home in Maui.A psychotherapist, Wayne Dyer received his doctorate in counseling psychology from Wayne State University and was an associate professof at St. John’s University in New York. He has taught at many levels of education bringing self-empowerment to students from high school through graduate study. Dr. Dyer’s unique approach to life includes a focus on spiritual as well as mental and physical energy.
